Cheese in Franciacorta
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Franciacorta’s sparkling wines, on Sunday September 18 Cheese will step out beyond the Piedmontese borders for an excursion to Adro, in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. The Franciacorta hills are the cradle of Italian sparkling wine tradition, bounded to the north by the shores of Lake Iseo, to the east by the Rhaetian Alps, to the west by the River Oglio and to the south by Monte Orfano.
Hosting the special event is Contadi Castaldi, one of the historic wineries in the Terra Moretti group, along with Bellavista in nearby Erbusco. A tasting will explore the unusual pairing of sparkling wines and French cheeses selected and aged by Maison Mons in Saint Haon le Châtel (Rhône-Alpes).
The event will include two tastings (one at 11 am and one at 3 pm) with four Franciacorta wines (Satèn, Soul Satèn, Rosé, Zero) and a fortified wine, Contadi Castaldi’s Pinodisé.
