Welcome to Cheese!
Cheese is back from September 16 to 19, 2011. The eighth edition of Bra’s biennial event dedicated to milk in all its forms has a focus on France this year, and as always will attempt to explore the complexity of knowledge, issues and resources surrounding cheese and dairy products. The event turns the spotlight onto the three pillars on which cheese quality rests: milk, craft and place. These three multi-faceted aspects can be further deconstructed in order to analyze the major issues that concern the sector, from how livestock are cared for to production techniques to aging.
Cheese biodiversity will be present not just at the Cheese Market stalls, featuring among others the cheese Presidia producers, and the selections on offer at the Great Hall of Cheese, but also in the Taste Workshops, guided tastings to train the five senses to recognize quality; the Dinner Dates, unique opportunities to sample local and international specialties in beautiful settings; and the Milk Workshops, meetings open to the public where experts will debate topical issues concerning our diet, the environment and the market.
Also central to Cheese 2011 are the educational activities, already introduced to local schools in the months leading up to the event, with tastings for the youngest visitors, cheesemaking classes for schoolchildren and many other activities for all ages, like the Master of Food.
Visitors will have an abundance of options for eating and drinking, whether at the Street Food area, the Tasting Booths or the Beer Piazza, as well as the eagerly awaited Pizza Piazza, new this year.
